HOME CARE

The primary role of our home care services is to provide emotional, physical, and spiritual companionship. Drawing from evidence-based research and experience, our home care services are created to offer guidance in the understanding of what happens to the body physically and which emotional patterns are common during moments of transition such as birth, post-clinical moments, spiritual exploration, end-of-life, and death.
Summer Diegel is a full-spectrum doula with an educational background in education, theology, and grief. They offer home care as a way to facilitate connection to the emotion and embodied responses that arise during moments of transition by planning for these moments through preparing soothing techniques, on-call care, and offering guidance or education surrounding the choices and techniques available to respond to common behaviors or changes.

SERVICES

PERSONAL CARE

Your doula may invite each person to take part in day-to-day care within periods of transition such as birth, illness/disability, and death. When we deepen our transitions (our small moments, our big moments, sometimes-easily-brushed-away moments) we make a choice to invest strategically into them. I believe that by doing this, over time we can build authentic faith and joy. In this way, I hope to join alongside the youth ministry that is already happening each day. Personal care services are developed uniquely for each client. If you are interested in hiring Summer Diegel to join your in-home care team, please contact Summer directly for long-term care options. These sessions follow the client's timeline and the desired outcome of the client(s). Services are offered at a sliding scale rate, please contact Summer Diegel directly with inquiries.

MEMORIAL / VIGIL / CELEBRATION

For many, planning the ways we wish to be remembered and/or caring for those who have died can move us through grief in ways that bring comfort. Some choose to work in collaboration with a trusted funeral home, while others may choose home memorials for comfort, affordability, ease, and more. Your doula can work with you to create and implement a plan that fits your needs regardless of the location. Celebration Planning may include legal information and guidelines, creating a death plan of action (DPoA), meeting 1:1 and write-ups, respite for caregivers, incorporation of traditional & religious practices, working alongside additional doulas, hospice, funeral director(s), or a hospital team. Services are offered at a sliding scale rate, please contact Summer Diegel directly with inquiries. available by phone/video; in-person services closed

POST CLINICAL SUPPORT

Postoperative Care Postoperative care is support for before and/or after surgery, including gender-affirming surgery or cesarian support. The needs of someone who just just undergone major surgery are specific, and postoperative doulas are there to provide a wide range of support. Postpartum Care The arrival of a new baby in the household can be a time swirling with emotions for each person involved (yes, baby too!). Trying to find answers to questions in libraries and websites full of resources, when each person has a new opinion on the "right" way, can leave caretakers confused, overwhelmed, and cautious. Your postpartum doula can offer nonjudgemental support and evidence-based information. Postpartum services include assistance with newborn care including diapering, bathing, comforting, feeding and taking note of early hunger cues, as well as burping, changing diapers, and soothing baby back to sleep. The assistance of a doula may create space for you to recover and rest when you need to. Abortion Care If you are making a decision to end your pregnancy, a doula's support may help. Your doula will meet with you to listen to your experiences. You will be treated with kindness and dignity. Abortion support may include sharing evidence-based information & resources, emotional comfort & care tools, pain management techniques, grief support, and referrals for cycle/period regulation. The assistance of a doula may create space for you to recover and rest when you need to. Your doula will also provide light meal preparation and light housekeeping. NOTES FOR POST CLINICAL SERVICES The companionship of a doula in postoperative, postpartum, or postabortion time can create opportunities for the self and/or household to continue holding space, listening, and helping one another adjust to new household needs and collaborate in emotional processing of your transition. You doula will also provide light meal preparation and light housekeeping so you don't feel so overwhelmed with having to do everything, especially during your immediate postpartum. Your doula will work in partnership with you and your clinician, provider, or doctor. This service is offered at client-determined times of need and/or through a series of incremental sessions which with your doula. These sessions follow the client's timeline and the desired outcome of the client(s). Services are offered at a sliding scale rate, please contact Summer Diegel directly with inquiries.
